Delicious

First off, Happy belated Birthday to OMA!!!!  Hope you had a wonderful birthday.

Jeff is on his first business trip to Beijing - -a one night stay.  The day before yesterday the kids and I went with our driver and Ayi to a Chinese amusement/outdoor education park.  I will post those pictures later. Yesterday, we spent the whole day at home cleaning and unpacking, and picking up Yu Yu's poop!  The crate training premise that dogs don't like to mess their own crate is 100% untrue for Yu Yu -- he prefers to do his "numbers" in the luxury of our living room.  Anyway, yesterday Ayi, Zhang, brought the fixings for pan fried dumplings (Jiaozi).  They were better than any restaurant and I am committed to learning how to make them from start to finish (including buying the necessary ingredients) on my own -- so I can impress friends and family when they come.

We are on a hunt to try to find popcorn today so we can have our family "snuggle fest" tonight -- with a movie, popcorn and/or candy.  We've already identified the island of trolli gummy candy at our local foreign grocery store!

Hope everyone is well.  More this weekend.

Crates are little, living rooms are big. I was thinking of a carrying case size crate ?

I know my writing wasn't clear. He consistently poops and pees in his crate --I had two perfect crates all cleaned out and had soft blankies in there and everything and messed them both up. He's had more baths than me or the kids! One day he did really good, but I watched him constantly, and I don't have the patience for that every day!

He's a puppy! I use to put the timer on to take Chili out every hour. I know, it takes patience! He'll be OK by the time he is two!!!

Mom, dad and I drove to Cornucopia and Bayfield yesterday. We had a very pleasant day. We ate whitefish and trout for lunch and whitefish livers - delicious! I also bought blueberries to take back to FDL. They had just started to ripen.
We are looking forward to your delicious fried dumplings! What is inside the dumplings, ground pork?
You will have to tell us what Jeff thought about Bejing. It is probably a crazy place with the Olympics starting soon. We love your pictures! Take Care! Kaye

We love potstickers! We are enjoying your updates. Not much new here. We are back from a nice visit to Pine Lake. It is now hot and sticky here in MPLS too. Are there any lakes or beaches near you? When is the first day of school? Any orientation coming up?

We are looking forward to the Olympics! We will eat lots of dumplings!

It is taking a bit of trial and error to get our Blogger identity down. Hope we now have a ladybug icon. Found a cute picture I'll send off to you!

I don't know why my latest blog didn't show up? Since I am not into dogs I am not into advice. However I do like those dumplings.

What's inside those dumplings???

Laura Lofy said...

A pork mixture is inside those dumplings. We used precut circular wrappers and cooked them in a pan with oil, adding some water and putting the lid on for a while. i will sit down with Ayi tomorrow and have her tell me all the precise ingredients. We may make them again this week!

Well here I go again. I love those dumpling so send the info. Now it isn't asking for my e-mail or a password so I guess it will go thru.

Lesson Time:

daifu = doctor
大夫
Mandarin
Pronunciation[ tai˥˩fu ]
From 大 ("great") + 夫 ("man")

Lesson #2 - Oma, I find if you click on "sign in" in the upper right hand corner of the main blog page, it shows you your "dashboard" which is your profile. Then you are signed in and you can post messages with out using your name & password. It will just say you are signed in as i.e. daisy... The using you name and password does seem to give me trouble too. Also, I e-mailed a piture of the kids school to Kaye & Daifu... I will email to you also. Kaye said you would like to see it. I'll copy you Lori...

For Kaye:

baihe (Pinyin bǎihé)

lily

百合花 = lily

Well here goes again. We can make Chinese bears with some help with pictures. Bean is trying to help me and we will see if it works as I will try to send this.

Daisy said...

Okay I guess it works.

Unknown said...

We want to see what the Chinese bears look like! Ladybug has a play date over and Uncle Comfortable is at work. I have one more day of freedom before a long stretch at work. Uncle Comf is taking the Texans to Pine Lake for the weekend. They will send out the letters with the teachers on August 15th. When does your school start?

Daisy said...

bears are a great idea

Daisy said...

I THINK THE PANDA BEARS ARE A GREAT IDEA. IF YOU AT 2 1/2 " OF FACE KNIT 6 STICHES ON EACH END OF THE NEEDLE BLACK ON A WHITE FACE FOR 1" YOU WILL HAVE BLACK EARS. I WILL TRY THIS AND LET YOU KNOW IF I THINK IT WORKS. I CAN'T WAIT TO BEGIN WITH THE IDEA.

For Beanie: How in the world did you get Chinese characters on your computer???
Tell us those movie we should watch with Shanghai in the background. Mission Impossible III and Empire in the Sun?

I noticed I misspelled Beijing in a blog.

Beanie said...

You can look up chinese words on Wikepedia... I had to do that for daifu... now I'm reading a blog called "TWIN DRAGONS OF LI DAIFU" it is pretty good. You can look it up on the same blog provider as Lori's. (Alison would like it) anyways... Wikepedia has a lot of Mandarin words (nouns) I just cut and pasted the info... You gotta learn the whole language.... ;)

Hello! Mike and I had an errand in Appleton today and went to a restaurant called Gingerrootz, An Asian Grill. We had Jiaozi (how do you pronounc?) The were excellent. We gave the Jiaozi a 10, our lunch a 7 and restaurant an overall 7. Looking forward to trying your Jiaozis (can you make it plural? - probably not)!

Wondering if you are going to be able to watch the Olympics?
